2018年6月27日-29日，由 IEEE(电气和电子工程师协会) 与重庆邮电大学主办，重庆邮电大学通信与信息工程学院、Digital Communications and Networks 期刊、重庆市电子学会协作承办的第三届IEEE图像、视觉与计算国际会议（ICIVC 2018）在逸夫楼学术报告厅召开。副校长陈前斌代表学校致欢迎辞，全球图像、视觉与计算领域的科研院校与研究机构的领导、专家和各界代表共计200余人参加了大会。
陈前斌代表学校对与会嘉宾表示欢迎，对相关部门给予的支持表示感谢！陈前斌指出，图像、视觉与计算国际会议是国际性高水平学术会议，本年度接受的论文来自世界各地，将通过12个不同的技术分会进行研讨交流，方向涉及图像分割、医学图像处理、自适应信号处理、移动通信信号处理等众多领域，这将有力推动图像处理和计算技术的发展，并将为从事信号处理、计算系统研究的国内外专家学者和工程师们提供一个高水平的交流平台。
大会上，来自美国内华达州立大学的Shahram Latifi教授（IEEE fellow）、新加坡南洋理工大学的周立培教授（IEEE fellow）、中国台湾地区逢甲大学张真诚教授（IEEE fellow）以及我校特聘教授美国华盛顿大学黄正能教授、澳大利亚悉尼科技大学杨易教授分别就图形图像与信息、计算领域前沿科研与研究成果做了主题交流报告。
在本次会议前期，征集到全世界341篇参会论文，经过认真严格筛选，共有191篇论文入选大会交流，大会吸引了来自美国、英国、加拿大、韩国、新加坡等近20个国家和地区的学者与会交流，本次会议为期3天，共组织了4个大会特邀报告、12个大会技术分会，1场公开报告展示，与会学者在会议期间集体参观了我校通信与信息工程学院图像处理相关实验室及国家级教学示范中心。
